John Graham shipped out on a freighter at 16, hitchhiked through the Algerian revolution at 19, and made the first ascent of Denali's North Wall at 20. A US Foreign Service officer for 15 years, he served in Libya's 1969 revolution and the Vietnam War. At the United Nations, he risked his career to support peace and justice initiatives, including engineering a UN plan that helped end apartheid in South Africa. For the last 42 years, he's been co-leader of the Giraffe Heroes Project. He is the author of Quest: Risk, Adventure, and the Search for Meaning.
