The Pleaser
You perform by keeping everyone okay
You read a room before you've taken your coat off. You feel other people's moods like weather changes, and somewhere along the line their comfort became your job. Saying no feels like letting someone down.
That quiet sense of playing small, of managing everyone while slowly disappearing, isn't weakness. It's the coming-apart that happens before you put yourself back together on truer ground. The radar that makes you so attuned to everyone else has gone quiet on one person: you.
Reading the Unspoken (Energetic Intelligence). Your sensitivity isn't the problem, it's a gift pointed in one direction. Presence means keeping the attunement and turning some of it inward, so you can show up for people without vanishing.
Next time someone asks something of you, notice your first response. If it isn't a strong yes, it's a no.
Every one of these patterns has a way through, and it isn't about trying harder. If you'd like to keep exploring yours, listen to the Make It a Great One podcast, where Dr. Dan goes deeper on what it takes to build a life that lasts.
